Dear Ms. Cohen:
In a telephone conversation today between you and this
Office, we informed you that the Commission would consider
your Advisory Opinion Request in late September or early
October, within the sixty-day period provided by the Federal
Election Campaign Act of 1971, as amended. Your request
inquired about acceptance of one or two tickets to attend an
event on September 9, 2006. During today's telephone
conversation, you informed us that you and Ms. Schneider
will not attend the event. We also discussed the
possibility of some advertisements prior to the September 5,
2006 primary in Florida. However, because you and Ms.
Schneider will not attend the September 9, 2006, event, your
request no longer presents "a specific transaction or
activity that the requesting person plans to undertake," and
consequently your request no longer qualifies as an advisory
opinion request. See 11 CFR 112.1(b).
This letter is to inform you that we consider your
advisory opinion request, AOR 2006-23, moot, and we are
closing our files on the matter.
